Our Story

Where This Began and Why

Naša Neovisnost was built around a simple observation: financial exclusion is often invisible until the moment it matters most.

A Gap Nobody Was Addressing

The idea for these workshops came from conversations with women who had just gone through divorce or lost a partner. They were intelligent, capable, and completely unprepared for the administrative reality of managing money alone. Not because they had not tried. Because nobody had ever shown them.

Banks offer products. Lawyers handle legal matters. Therapists support emotional wellbeing. But the practical, mechanical question of how to read a bill, how to set up a payment, how to build a monthly overview from scratch? That gap was real and it was going unaddressed.

Naša Neovisnost was designed to fill exactly that gap. Nothing more, nothing less.

The Principles Behind Every Session

These workshops are built on a small number of firm convictions about how adults learn and what women in this situation actually need.

No Judgment, Ever

Not knowing how to manage finances is not a character flaw. It is the result of circumstances. Every session is built around that understanding. The questions that feel embarrassing to ask are exactly the ones we spend the most time on.

Practical Over Theoretical

We do not teach concepts for their own sake. Every piece of information in the workshop connects directly to something a participant will do or decide in the coming week. Theory only earns its place when it has a practical consequence.

Confidentiality as Foundation

Financial situations are personal. What participants share about their income, their obligations, or their circumstances stays within the group. This is not just a rule we state. It is a condition of the environment we create.

Focused Scope

We do not try to cover everything. These workshops address one specific set of skills: understanding and managing a household budget. That focus is intentional. Trying to address everything at once serves nobody well.

The People Behind the Workshops

Sessions are led by facilitators with backgrounds in financial education and adult learning. They are not financial advisors and do not offer advice. They teach practical skills.

Workshop Facilitation Team

Financial Literacy Facilitators

Our facilitators come from backgrounds in adult education and financial literacy training. They understand that the women in the room are not students who need correcting. They are adults who need a structured space to practice skills they have not had the chance to develop.

Workshop Design and Logistics

The workshop materials are reviewed and updated regularly to reflect the current Croatian financial landscape, including relevant forms, payment systems, and common bill formats that participants are likely to encounter in their daily lives.

Naša Neovisnost provides educational workshops only. We are not a financial advisory service, a legal service, or a therapeutic service. Participants should consult qualified professionals for advice specific to their individual situations.
